I recently sold a revolver through a reputable dealer and have now come across it on an auction sight claiming it's an authentic confederate arm with papers and authenticity. I have contacted the dealer so they are aware of the situation. I'm looking to get some advice on how to deal with, or handle someone, you know is passing off a fake.

Thanks in advance
William

First, it is possible that the dealer did some research on the gun and discovered information that you were not aware of.

Second, he may be using a "general" connection to a Confederate association, such as Kerr revolvers are known to have been used by the South, but not all Kerrs are Southern. Many sellers use puffery and color in their descriptions which I don't have a major problem with, though some of them can get carried away

Advice? Let the buyer beware. If this dealer is indeed trying to pass off a 19th century firearm with paperwork concocted in the 21st century, a prudent buyer should see the warning signs.
