I know that the numbers on the frame and breech block should match. There's one I've got my eye on but there's a slight problem with the numbers. The frame is stamped 33024. The breech block is stamped 30324. What's the general opinion that the stamper just got the two numbers transposed? I've seen this on a few Colt's as well, that's why I'm lead to believe this frame and breech block were made together.

Supposedly Burnside Carbines were made on the "fully interchangeable" plan-therefore even IF the assembler didn't accidentally transpose the serial numbers, it should be fine to shoot. I might add, the likely transposed numbers do make it a "rare & unique" carbine!
