I just tried ordering RWS Musket Caps from Dixie GW and was told they are no longer shipping Musket Caps. They are now for in store sale only. I have about 170caps left. Where do you guys buy your 4 winged caps?

We get ours from John Venskoske, a long time member of the N-SSA. His online site is at http://www.blackpowderva.com/

Dear mb3

At the last Nationals, I stopped by John's place and picked up a sleeve of his "Wingless" RWS musket caps.

They cost almost half as much as a sleeve of "Winged" musket caps and shoot just the same.

What does "RWS" stand for?

Do you find the wingless caps harder to remove from the nipple after firing?

RWS musket caps (no. 1081) are manufactured by Dynamit Nobel in Furth, Germany. I'm not sure what the RWS represents, but they are the importer for the caps. RWS also is involved in the target rifle and ammunition industry. The wingless caps work equally as well as the winged caps. They split and either fall off or are easily removed from the nipple. I've been using the wingless on my Maynard and have not had a single problem with them.
