There are some oringals on gunbroker that could be smithed into a good skirmish gun. These I am refering to are not good collector grade pieces.

http://www.gundersonmilitaria.com has two 1842's in what look to be fairly good shape.
The one with the 1850 date is $950 and the 1853 date is $895.
I keep mentioning Gundersonmilitaria only because I have dealt with them before and am staisfied with what I have bought from them.
I just thought they might be another source for those looking for original weapons and parts.
They have 2 original Spencers I have to force myself from looking at lest I act on impulse and buy one.

For a Fighting 69th Irish Bde re-enactor, hey you never know one of them may have been carried back then
