Smoothbore....???

This is like asking what method you would use to teach a kid to tie their shoes!!!!
Musket--> 3 band springfield, long sight radius, forgiving, original is light Carbine--> Richmond, yeah I know not a fast reload, but makes you think about it before you pull the trigger
Smoothbore--> Well to be honest all of them look just fine above a fireplace Green

If you can spring for an original, more power to you! But among the repros it's difficult to beat the Armi Sport Model of 1842.

The four our team members bought en masse - with sequential serial numbers - all had similar, niggling manufacturing problems: crooked hammers, triggers that needed a spot weld to prevent the sear from occasionally riding over them, band springs that fail to hold. But, once those are dealt with, these '42's can be lights-out shooters. Green
