View Full Version : WTB: barrel bands for original 1861 Springfield

Looking for front and rear (don't need the middle) barrel bands for original ( not repro) 3 band 1861 Springfield; these are the flat/no screw bands, not the rounded type 2 1863 bands. They don't need to be mint, but shouldn't be a bunch of pits held together by rust, the U mark should be clear.

There is a website, http://www. Gundersonmilitaria.com I have bought from a number of times with good results.
I just did a quick check and I believe they have an original in good shape with a well defined "U" as you asked for $100 but check them yourself.
They deal in pre 1899 weapons along with gun parts ,accoutrements American fighting knives and swords.
You might want to give them a try.

correction, that was an 1863 I looked at but there is an 1861 flat band there also

Hi,
I'm a gunsmith at lodgewood mfg and I'm pretty sure we got a whole bunch of '61 bands. Call 262 473 5444 tomorrow from 9-5 for details.
