Y'all
What are the chances of a CS Richmond Carbine having a long range sight?
Thanks

Richmond and 1861 Springfield Version use either a 1858 or 1861 3 leaf rear sight.

kbc,

Perhaps, and this is just a suggetion on my part, you should check just what a long range rear sight actually is and means within the time period for the type of arm you are talking about?

I would like a long range sight like M1855 type 1 Richmond Rifle from James River Armory on my Richmond Carbine.Would it be legal for competition.
Thanks

No. See section 14 of the Skirmish Rules.

No it would not be legal, the only two sights that have been used during the war on the Richmond Carbine are the 1858 or 1861 3 leaf rear sight. No other rear sight had been used by the Richmond Arsenal.

Pahdnah, the true answer to your question is "BIFOCALS". Short barrelled gun, sight half way down the barrel, with MY bifocals I can read between those lines. Happens to the best of us.....regards from the big sandbox, Bob

I'm confused. The rumor on the line was that "English Bob" went back to England in order to smuggle some Irish whiskey back to the U.S. much like old Joe Kennedy did the first years of the WWII. What is this big sand box?? Is Bob into Afgans now? He doesn't seem like a textile guy; but he is a dog guy.

On original Richmond Carbines, the ladder style, "Long Range Rear Sight" was ONLY found on the SNIPER VERSION OF THE RICHMOND CARBINE.

Although documentation is lacking, I have been assured by nameless sources that Confederate Cavalry Snipers were considered the scourage of the Yankees in the Shenandoah Valley.

Good Luck in getting a repro of the Sniper Version of the Richmond Carbine past the Small Arms Committee!
