I picked up an original 1930's Justrite carbide miners lamp. I checked on-line for chunk carbide and discovered that the Hazmat fees have made it unaffordable to purchase. a 1 lb container costs $25. Another dealer offers five 2 lb cans for around $80 and admits that $55 of this cost is associated with shipping and packaging. Does anyone know of a reasonable source for carbide so I can use my lamp? If any of the sutlers at the Nationals carry it, let me know as I will be there.

My next skirmish is the CV Regional at Swamp Shenandoah.
