John or Anybody,
I am building a C.S. Richmond Carbine,1861 Springfield Version. What is the replacement for the pinched version front sight,or what and where do I find one ? Is it the same as the three band Springfield replacement sight?
Thanks

No it is a different sight, called a pinched sight. Looks like this :

left is dovetailed into the barrel, the best type ("adjustable"), right is soldered on.
Hoyt has the dovetailed ones and S&S sells the other type.

Also if you get it done and have time to make it up to Fort Ross, for a shoot in the summer, bring it along when it is finished and I can write it up to get approved for you! Save you from the line at a Nationals
