Hi All,

I am selling a Complete Civil War Wiard Cannon for a friend who lives in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. The Cannon has never been fired. He is an N-SSA member who has not had a chance to fire this particular firearm. The barrel is rifled. South Bend Replicas, Inc made the barrel. The sleeve was done by Historical Ordnance Works.

This is a rifled 6 pounder.

The barrel weighs approximately 725 lbs, the carriage weighs approximately 1,850 lbs. The width from outside to outside of wheel is approximately 65 inches. You can't haul it in the back of a pick-up truck. All dimensions that follow are approximate and in whole numbers without me going to the 16th of an inch. Carriage length is approximately 92 inches long. Wheels are approximately 57 inches high. Length of tube is approximately 52 inches long. Diameter of tube at breech is approximately 10 inches. Muzzle is approximately 5 inches.

It comes with:
(1) Sponge Bucket
(2) Trail Hand Spike
(2) Sponge & Rammer
(1) Field Worm
(1) Prolonge
(1) Projectile Mold
(1) Projectile Sizer
Front & Rear Sight
25 lbs Cannon Grade Powder

All the above is included for $17,500 OBO. He is offering an open trailer for an additional $2000 as well. This cannon is for pick-up only.

For those unfamiliar with the Wiard Cannon, here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiard_rifle

Presently I have one photo which I will have to send you since this sites attachment threshold has been reached. There will be more to come, however I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone is interested. As I receive more information, I will most certainly update this post.

Great question! I would assume so but I will confirm.

Thanks,

I checked in with the owner and he has not yet had it inspected, but if that is a deal breaker he would take it down to the inspector (Rob West) in Poquoson and get it done. It would take time because he would need to get the limber chest from another gun (located in Strasburg) and then have it inspected/approved. The owner is located in Hampton Roads.

Just let me know.

Thanks for your inquiry.

What size is it? 6 pounder? 12 pounder?

This is a 6 pounder rifle. The rest of the dimensions are in the description.

Thanks

Any response on the 10k. It would have to be inspected because I want it for Nssa competition.
Regards
Russ

Rlevin,

I spoke to the seller and he will not go that low! He needs closer to $16,500.

Thanks,
