I purchased this ammunition from Steve Sullivan with the plan to have my original rifle re-chambered. I have since decided not to so I am reposting this ammunition for sale. Here is Steve's original ad:

Please read this whole thing. I have some surplus to put to better use with someone out there. I have some reloaded Spencer centerfire ammo and empty cases. I got these rounds for use in an original Spencer with the center fire block conversion, but never fired any. They were reloaded in 50-70 converted cases by Bob Hayley in Seymour,Texas in 1998. The empty cases are marked 50/70 and some unmarked, but all new. Actually both loaded and unloaded all look new. The loaded rounds come with a receipt for a very high price ($730.00) for 200 rounds, and close to what I paid several years ago, but I want these to be used, so will not pass on my error in purchase. Long posting I realize, but you are buying a pig in a poke sack perhaps as I cannot verify load or much about the origin. I have 199 live rounds and 50 empty brass cases. One live round was lost trying to cycle it through a deffective Armisport Spencer. As the rounds are live, and heavy, UPS for shipping. I would like $350.00 plus the shipping cost.

Do you know if they are blackpowder or smokeless loads?

Glenn,

I'm sorry but I do not know. As Steve said in his original sale it's a bit of a pig in a poke.

Glenn,
If you price brass for the Spencer it is almost worth the effort to buy this lot, take out the bullet and powder, and then use the 249 cases from scratch.

Steve,

These cases look kind of squatted to be .56/50 and look more like .56/56 though noting the slight taper and crimp could they be .56/52? They look too short for my .56/50 chamber? Of course, I'm shooting mainly Starline brass in my Spencer but it's been rebarreled for .56/50.

Richard,

They're definitely not 56-56 as they won't come close to seating in my original chamber.

It actually wasn't until I found your post discussing the "Little Big Horn" Spencer that I figured out just what was wrong.

Here is a more detailed photo. The sales receipt also says "56-50"

The mystery continues...
At least there are some decent photos. I do wish you centerfire chaps would chime in, what is this stuff for?
