Is this a FrankenMaynard? It has features of a First Model, a Second Model, and of an 1865, it appears.

Could it be a post-war 1865? HMMMM? :-/

Froggie, It is just a hogged up 1863 sporting model. It was never a military gun. Most people call them 1865's but it is not an 1865 because it does not have a round lower tang marked "1865". It was made during the war supposedly with rejected frames (but perhaps not) and sold to the civilian market. I think you need to own it. Start bidding

Yeah Froggie,,,this is one ya oughta jump right on!

After ya sold the barrel sights and messed up butt stock/butt plate and bought the correct stuff you'll have more then it's worth in it. But just think of the fond memories of the project down the road.

PS,,,,,I have all the parts it'll need! LOL!

By the serial number it's plenty early enough to have been issued to someone who took it home with them afterwards then "customized" it their self or another years after the war.
