A member of the Surplusrifle.com forums directed me to this board with a question I had regarding a Lorenz rifle. I recently came across what appears to be an original Lorenz in .58 caliber that is for sale at a local flea market. Unfortunately the rifles stock is in very bad shape (badly cracked at the wrist and painted brown), the previous owner has also polished the metal to an in the white finish, and the rifle is missing the cleaning rod and a buttplate screw. Other than that all the parts are intact and the lock functions correctly. I'm mainly a WW1-WW2 era collector so Civil War weapons are not my area of expertise. I'm wondering what a Lorenz in this condition would be worth and if a restoration would be feasible or cost effective. If you have any questions on the rifle I'll do my best to describe it but I'll have to go off of memory since I didn't take any photos. Thanks in advance for any information you guys can give me.
