I need to buy a late Maynard side plate with a serial number higher than 21,236. Can anyone help me restore an otherwise beautiful carbine! :?

PJ ah checkin' in.

I already sold Eric all the other parts he needed. Going out in the mail tomorrow actually. He has an 1865 Model Maynard and not the Second Model. OK,,,,,so everyone is scratchin' their heads now. The Second model Maynard and 1865 stamped Maynards are the same carbine for the most part. The tang screw(one that goes through stock to the top tang) on the 1865 is a tad thicker, lower tang is rounded, sideplate is a tad thicker and the hinge pin is a few thousandths thicker on some of them, even though it's the same thread.
Eric has a Second Model sideplate on and 1865 stamped frame so it sits proud quite a bit. One could file it to fit but you'll be there a long while. Since it's a mismatch it won't hurt to find an 1865 sideplate and save the trouble.

The few side plates I have left are Second Models. =(
