This carbine is built from mostly original 1861 parts. The 25" barrel is original, dated 1863, Hoyt relined to .577, three groove, 1/48" twist. The bolster cap fence has been removed. The lock has original internals and hammer with a repro Richmond mid height hump lockplate also dated 1863. The stock is original with a replacement forearm permanently joined behind the lower band with a shiplap joint that is almost undetectable. The butt has stamped traces of a rack number. There are a few dents and dings and a chip missing from behind the tang.
It has correct brass buttpale and nose cap, high pinched front sight, 3 leaf rear sight and correctly located third sling swivel. Photos available via email.
