Just curious, whats your favorite load for your 58 musket? It can be a hunting or target load, but give me the specifics; weapon, powder, charge, weight and type of minie or ball, and group size.

Thanks,
Eterry

I am shooting an original 1861 Paker & Snow Springfield (3 band) with a Whitacre barrel. I shoot a RCBS Hogden sized to .575 and SPG bullet lube. The load I use is 45 grains of 3F GOEX. Very tight group at 50 yards and 3" (benched) at 100 yards.

Parker Hale 2bands: RCBS 58-500 base modified (M design)sized to .576 and 58gr of Swiss N°2(fffG) lube with crisco+beewax and lavander soap for the smell... 1,5 inch hole at 100M
Zouave original (mint bore!) Lyman 580213 with base of 575213PH sizedto .579 ,same lube and 54 gr of Swiss N°2 , same result.
When I said Crisco , it's not the genuine crisco unavailable in France but coconut hydrogenated oil.

Thanks guys, I'm looking for info for my Navy Arms carbine, I'm casting a 500 gr. RCBS and LEE minies throwing about .577-.578 and FFg. I'm looking for a hunting load for whitetail deer about 75 yards.
