A friend acquired the item pictured and would like to know about how old it is, exactly what it is, what type/model, etc. I took a look and have some ideas but I'd feel better for his sake if some third parties gave their best guess on this object. I'll give him the link to this so if you have any burning questions that aren't answered by the photos or measurements, post them here or email me and I'll get an answer. Thanks for helping.

More photos in a slideshow. If it asks for a password, put in "attack." To stop on one photo, mouse over the lower screen and motion controls and photo icons will appear.

Rick, thanks for the opinion. I know he'll be interested in why you came to that conclusion. Would you mind elaborating?

the handles look like ones i have seen on WWI limbers and the use of brass on the box?? never seen that and it looks more decrotive then needed. built well tho maybe be a box from WWI or foriegn from the 1880s now that i looked at it again.

that brass gets me though and is something i would not expect.
