Greetings:
I know this is not related to the Civil War or the N-SSA but I don't know where else to post it.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who knows what a Pederson Device is!
Better still, if you happen to have one, I DEFINITELY want to hear from you.

The Pedersen Device was developed to convert the 1903 Springfield bolt action rifle into a magazine fed semi-auto rifle using shorter .30 cal auto pistol cartridges. The device never was (or very limited) issued, was stored after WWI. Rifles that were modified for its use had a notch milled out of the side of the stock to clear the ejecting casings, other than that, the rifle is not changed and can be used in the normal way with the standard bolt configuration. The vast majority of the 'devices' were destroyed, with only a very few remaining - and are extremely rare and valuable.

Thtcere is a chapter about the Pederson device in "Hatcher's Note Book." Hatcher was a general (or golonel) in Army Ordnance. His book covers a lot of ordnance subjects he was involved with or a least knew about from prior to WW1 to about 1960.

My dad used to have an '03 Springfield with the large "MK 1" stamp on the receiver and the small ejection port on the side. Unfortunately its gone now, but I remember it well.

The Springfield Armory Museum, Springfield, Mass, had a really nice Pederson display last time I was there. Not sure if its a permenant display, or in honor of the 100th anniversary of the 1903 rifle. Only time I've seen one in person.
