I would like to purchase an original style,in the white, rear sight for a Richmond Carbine.Ialso have a peep style rear sight that I might be willing to trade for one if anyone is interested...Thanks...Mike :D

Try Lodgewood Mfg, they should have anything you need for a Richmond carbine. Give them some time, as Bill is a busy man, and his main employee is out on sick leave. Look them up in the links list on this site.

Lodgewood sells the Rich Cross M1855 rear sights with steady pin just like original Harper Ferry and C.S. Richmond. Question: does your Richmond barrel have the little groove cut to receive the steady pin? If not, it might be better to install a M1861 rear sight since it doesn’t have that feature. The steady pin was added to prevent lateral movement. Of course, if you was desperate enough, you could file off the steady pin and take your chances it would still fit your barrel? Might be just as easy to add the groove for the steady pin? Anyhow, the Cross sights are typically blued like the originals but you can use a remover to strip off the bluing— although the remover may etch the surface.
