Simpsonltd.com just had this 1851 style revolver for sale billed as a 'faked' Confederate piece. Whether built with intention to deceive or as a reenactors custom piece is anyones guess but its obvious a fair amount of work went into it, with the rounded barrel and antiqued finish.

Having spoiled the kids at Christmas and putting new tires on the car I passed even at this cheap price, but im wondering if I missed out on something unique.

Does anyone recognize what the maker may have veen trying to replicate, or what the base gun was?

It looks like someone wanted a Gunnison and Griswald Revolver with a steel frame. Italian Navy Arms Reb replicas used a brass frame, but I wonder if a basement hobbyist couldn?t fit a steel 1851 Navy frame to the Reb barrel assembly.

I have considered doing that myself to a .44 cal Navy Arms Yank revolver.
