Does anyone make a taller blade for Pedersoli Sharps carbine? Looks like it is pinned into base, very thin. See pic.

I made a new one myself with some brass shim stock. I filed the base to match the shape of the original blade and drilled a hole. It's easier to do this with a long piece of stock rather than a tiny blade - this way you can use the piece of stock as a handle to hold on to.

Once you have matched the base of the blade to match the shape of the original and drilled the pin hole, you can cut it down to a reasonable starting length and then pin it into the sight base.

It's not a hard job; You'll need some small hand files, a center punch, a set of vernier calipers, and a drill. A drill press makes the job easier but you could do it with a hand drill if you take your time and are careful.

You can order various thickness of brass, German silver, or other metals at https://www.onlinemetals.com/

Where do you get correctly sized drill bits and pins that fit the drilled holes snugly?00

I re-used the pin that came out of the original. In a pinch, you could probably make one from a small finish brad nail.

I bought a whole box of drill bits from Harbor Freight. They go down really tiny in size.

Harbor Freight has smaller packages of drill bits that probably go down to the size required also.

I consider Harbor Freight tools to be essentially disposable so don't expect Craftsman quality and you won't be disappointed.

Drill bit wise- If you only want US made ones- try McMaster Carr or Graingers.
