I have been searching for a hard side plastic gun case long enough to transport an 1855 Springfield, which I guess would need to be about 60" long. No luck so far. Wonder if anyone has found such a beast. Thanks in advance. Tom Montgomery, 14th MS

The Teamstore plastic cases are not offered in 60"+ length, they are shorter, even though they call them 60, 62 and 70. Guess that is a model number. Will keep looking.

Pelican/Hardigg both make a very nice hard plastic case. Lifetime warranty and waterproof. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing.

SKB makes a 64 inch case with +60 inch interior length. These cases are mil-std and are heavy at 34 pounds. I tried to look at some of the pelican websites to see if they even offerred a long enough case and was unable to find a listing for a 60 inch case. There are some surplus military SKB cases on ebay going for $49 with a length of 73 inches that would hold any three band musket made. The shipping price is steep at over $100 but the seller does allow local pickup at no cost. Might be an option. If you buy a case from a retail outlet over the internet expect a $200-300 price with an expensive shipping charge because of the bulky size.Good hunting.
