In very good condition, this is a very nice custom built Richmond carbine. It has shooter sights that could be kept or swapped for more appropriate wartime front and rear sights. I believe this is a Harmon barrel as well. The stock was glass bedded, but still handles very nicely.

An old repair was inspected by Lodgewood, whom said it was not worth attempting to further hide the repair. Overall, a nice shooter/reenacting, and display piece.

$1000 shipped

I believe SMJ H is Steven M Jensco, and possibly Jerry Harmon. Its a long time ago, and I might be wrong.

Either way its a nice carbine.

I have 2 Richmond Carbines with Harmon/Large BBls.

Thank you and I think you're right. I had notes on whom had made it and can't find them at the moment.

How are you measuring the barrel that you are getting a 24" barrel length? The reason I ask is that 25" is the spec and you are allowed .5" one way or the other. To measure the barrel go from the muzzle to the seam between the barrel and the breech plug. (not to the end of the tang)

Hi Joe,
I must've rounded down in my mind. Actual measurement to the seem is 24-13/16". My apologies.

Well, John. I guess you can throw out everything I ever inspected.

Regarding the barrel markings, "SMJ & H" stands for "Steven M. Jencso & Hoyt". Steve bought rifled barrel blanks from Hoyt and did all of the machining and breeching himself. Steve passed away in late 2014.
