I was looking at the crown of my new to me LG&Y Special model. It has seen a fair amount of use and due to use of metal ramrods there is a little wear at the muzzle crown. I tested with my bronze choke tube testing tool and it showed a slight out of round. YouTube shows some interesting DIY methods to polish the crown but would like to hear from the More experienced NSSA guys who have dealt with issue in the past. Thanks for any input?-Steve

Try shooting it first, it might work out fine. As far as I'm concerned the only way to correct your issue, if it is one, is to cut off the worn area and that's best done in a lathe. The barrel can be shortened up to 1/2" and still be N-SSA legal.

The best way is to true it up in a lathe, shorten as needed and machine a slight chamfer on the bore.
