I have just accuired a sears & robuck 58cal zouave made by antonio zoli & company. I have been told the rate of twist is for minnies rather than round ball. can anyone verify this for me and if so will the lee 58cal minnie mold work for this rifle

Hello , PRB works well only because they are easy to cast and load , but the best accuracy is with sized minie bullets , check the bore diameter and size your minie 1/1000 under . be aware that lube quality is very important for minie.

I believe the twist on the Zoli rifles is 1-in-33, which is pretty fast for a round ball. If you're looking for a pre-made bullet that shoots well, try the Buffalo Bullet Co. .58 HPHB or the Buffalo Ballette. They come pre-lubed.

Alternatively, they also shoot the traditional Minie very well, like the Lyman 575213.

Cheers,

In my experience the Zoli Zouaves have a 1 in 72" twist.
