Was wondering what you all know about progressive loaders. Was looking at the lee 900 pro . It will be for a specific gun and remain caliber specific so change overs will not be an issue.

Buy a Dillon 550 or 650, you will love it. I have a 550 and I love it. The only thing I regret is that I did not spend the extra money for the 650 to get the self indexing head. And you get great costumer support from Dillon. :D

Does this include both Union and Confederate costumes? I haven't seen any mention of them in "The Blue Press" but then again I usually just look at the pictures of the cover girl and ignore the rest anyway! Green

Sometimes my fingers get ahead of my brain. But if Dillon made them I'm sure they would be well made and sexy. Just like the girls on the cover.
Frog, you need to get past the sex on the cover and open it up. There are some good articles to read inside.

PS Did you ever wonder where Dillon gets all those women.

For you dillon fellers do you use the same powder thrower for smokeless powder as you do for black powder?

I do not use black power in my Dillon 550, and I would not recommend to do so. I only reload modern pistol brass with smokless powder.

That is kind of why i was looking at the lee, as sort of a disposable. I think that the powder measure on it is the one that is all plastic. I am not going to put black powder through my other press not that it would cause a problem but don't really want to get any residue where it does not belong. with that being said since i will have to buy another press and dies, thought that the lee for $139 might be worth a try.

The Lee may be the best way to go. The Dillon is to expensive and to nice of a press to mess up with corrosive black powder. That is why I use an old B & M power measure and an old RCBS Jr. press for my black powder loads. It might be a little slower but it's a lot easer to clean.

Sam,

I use a Dillon 550 for all of the modern cartridges I reload, and have turned out thousands of rounds of quality .45 and .38 match ammo. The Dillon is an extremely reliable piece of equipment.

I have also used the Dillon to load some black powder cartridges. But, I have thrown the charges separately, rather than using the Dillon powder measure. It's slower, but it works. And, you don't get black powder in the machine.

Regards,
Don

I too have a Dillon 550 and load both modern (.45, .44 mag, 30.06, 7.62x39, .223) and black powder (44.40) with zero issues.

I have never had a problem with Black Powder in my 550 Dillon.
