For those of you interested in building your own H&P, I am considering ordering more breeches.

These are CNC machined complete, but not polished. I have made them .02" oversized around the main body to allow for filing and polishing to match the barrel. The snail is the "large" style and can be filed to look like a "small" snail if desired. It is also designed to stand proud of the face of the lock plate. Again, you can file it flush if you are after that look.

I had John Bly mate the breech to the barrel. It requires some minimal machine work to make the breech bottom out at the correct orientation. When done properly, the touch hole in the breech should line up with the touch hole in the barrel threads, or very nearly so.

The cost will be $200 per breech.

Note that these breeches are female threaded and are designed to thread onto an Armisport M1842 barrel. They also do not have a patent breech so your bore will be .69 caliber all the way to the breech face, unlike the original breeches.

I would like to note that these breeches will only work with the repro Armisport barrels. They are round instead of the truncated oval as an original barrel plus they are a metric thread. I don't want to discourage anyone from building an H&P but you need to know what you are up against. You will also need to change out the lock plate as Steve did.
