Came upon an interesting mold for a fifty, the 447 grain Lyman #500294. Rather than plain base this mold was made a large hollow base and weighs right about 321* grains. I'm going to try it out for offhand target shooting with light charges in a 48" twist little half stock rifle. At some point in its history some knuckle head tried cleaning it up with one of those tiny wire wheels that are sold for use with the little hobby grinder / drill / sanders. The kind tends to microscopically roll the edges of the cavity.:mad:
I broke out the jewelers files and loupe and fixed it. Now it only makes a tiny ridge in some places where the mold blocks meet and that comes off with a thumb nail. So any way, please take a look at what they look like.

With that weight, the longer nose and thin skirt it looked as though perhaps someone had it made as a special order for a breech loading carbine of one make or the other. So, as this is definitely the place that someone would know I thought to post up a picture and see if anyone might be familiar.
