Does anyone on here shoot a Musketoon in the Carbine match? I have a Zoli JP Murray that i have started playing with and I was using 45gr of 3F Goex, shoots about a foot low at 50 yards. Trying to figure out what a good starting load to bring the POI up. This load is what I use in my other rifles and it shoots like a champ, but obviously too much for this gun
Anyone got any suggestions?

Shoot for good group before you start making
site adjustments.

Jim is right. Group first. Then, after you have a one hole group and it?s still low, file the front sight down to raise point of impact

Try 40 grains of 3F and also 45 grains of 2F and 40 grains of 2F. That could give the muzzle a little more time to rise before the bullet leaves the barrel, much like .357 Magnum rounds strike lower than .38 Specials out of the same gun. Other than that, get good groups and file the sight. jh

Cant file it much more than it already is. It has a super small front sight already, It does me no good to get a good group with it if I am a foot low and cant adjust the POI other than by reducing the powder charge. I am more looking for a minimum starting charge to work from. This is not my gun, but a similar one so you can see the front sight on it

Replace the rear sight. Don't needlessly keep adding powder. There should be some Italian nearby to help you with this.

I was actually looking at Reducing the charge to bring it up.

That ain't going to do it. You need to get your sights into the game.

Just an estimate: Sight Radius = 20 inches. 20/1800= 0.0111 X 12 inches = 0.13 inches in sight adjustment. About a eighth of an inch. Yeah it doesn't look like there is much room for adjustment.

Theoretically a heavier bullet should print higher.

Put a dab of JB Weld on the rear site, keep adding
or filing off for site impact.
You can also notch it later for windage.

Once you've got it high enough and properly notched I recommend a coat of Dutch Boy paint, preferably in Boer bore, not exciting, but better than boring, black.

Might do that, or have my buddy MIG weld a couple beads on it

I shoot a Parker Hale and my sights aren't stock. Load is RCBS Hogdon with tall base plug. Bullet weighs about 375. Shoots 2moa with 42 gr 3f Old E, RWS caps, beeswax/lard lube.

I apologize for writing this. I don't know what got into me. I had a friend condemn me to the infernal regions for a similar piece a while back.

Well had a buddy lay a couple beads of weld on the rear sight to help raise the POI it. I plan on playing with some loads that are lower as well to see if they group well, gonna start at between 35-38gr. Hopefully the rear sight alone will help raise POI using my 45Gr load since I know that one is good, just a foot Low.
