Well, no luck with the WTB Greene carbine, so back to my favorite, the Merrill. Looking for an early carbine or any rifle, preferably one that doesn't have an upside down 7 in the patchbox inlet area, as I've read those were never issued to troops. Please PM. Eric.

There are 7 1st model Merrill?s on Guns international right now.

I'm far more likely to find a great Merrill at a reasonable price on liveauctioneers or proxibid than gunbroker. Oh I wish I had started squirreling away dough weekly a few months earlier, and I'd have been able to buy that 448 serial'd Merrill from RIAC.

I have two M1 carbines, one of which I might consider trading for that next Merrill, or maybe Greene rifle or carbine, Evans or Soper - any neat technology pre-1900 firearm might be nice to barter. First is a Rock-ola (ballpark $2k+ value, serial 1716095), and the other is a Quality HMC (ballpark $1.2k+ value, serial 1629413) with Inland barrel and Quality HMC on the breech tang. Did a lot of searching on values at proxibid and liveauctioneers for comparable sold prices. Both are in great condition. Rock-ola does not have a bayonet attachment, but the Quality HMC does. Can send plenty of photos if interested. Eric.

I just won an Alex Henry/Soper sporting rifle. Woohoo! Can't wait for it to arrive. Still hoping someone's willing to barter for a Merrill or Evans or other.
