I currently use 40 gr. of GEOX 3 F. How much hotter dose Swiss burn? How much should I reduce my charge?

A few years ago Tony Beck sent me a copy of a lengthy Swiss Powder document that included comparisons of Swiss 3F to GOEX 3F. Pages 27 through 32 include velocity comparisons.

I have shot GOEX and SWISS with great results, but now use Swiss, just because I have it on hand. I started at 15% below my GOEX charges and fine tuned from there.

First, there are lot-to-lot strength tolerances for both Swiss and GOEX.
Apart from that, in 2001, the "burn rate" for Swiss was increased approximately 5%.
Comparing the relative differences in test velocities points to Swiss 3Fg being between 13% to 15% stronger than GOEX.

I suggest a starting point for you of 13% less Swiss.
So, multiply your GOEX charge by 87% for an equivalent velocity with Swiss.
As we know, 1 or 2 grains more or less should be tested for best group.
