View Full Version : Mississippi Type F Rear Sight?

Where can I get the correct M-1858 rear sight? I was looking at the Rich Cross sights that Lodgewood carries, and the only one that matches the "no ears" description of the SAC sheet is the one for the 1861-63 Springfield. Is that it? Forgive my ignorance, but I am worried it won't have the dovetail to fit the original slot on the barrel. https://www.lodgewood.com/Springfield-Rear-Sight-Reproduction-for-Original_p_106.html

This is the three leaf M-1858, which was used with minor modifications through early 1861, and on Richmonds. The sight you show is the later type with wings to protect the 100 yard leaf.

Ah, now I get it. I got confused and I thought the "no ears" was referring to the difference in the shape of the 100yd leaf- now I see the difference is in the outer "ears" of the base. Just ordered. I was annoyed that they wouldn't combine shipping with a previous order that I had just made- oh well.
