What does the W mean?

The "W" on the bolster of a Bernadelli Mississippi Rifle means the bolster is Welded on, rather than Brazed. The Brazed bolsters have been known to fracture, or blow completely off, at the joint.

What does the W mean?

Exactly what John said. The company started welding bolsters and marking them with the ?W? to identify them as being safe. It?s odd and a little scary that many repros have soldered bolsters. Glad we have the approved arms list for the N-SSA.

FYI - Soldering is not brazing. Brazing is much stronger. Look it up.
