Potsdam Question

Hi All,

Were all 1809 Prussian muskets (aka Potsdam) made with that huge nipple? The reason I am asking is I have a Potsdam that looks to have a Springfield size nipple....much smaller that the normal large nipple i usually see on these muskets. Is this an alteration or were some actually made with this nipple size?

The nipple thread probably has modified with a thread insert or heli-coil. As far as I know they all had the same size nipple. It makes sense for supply purposes.
