I am trying to get my Smith to shoot better. The Eras Gone bullets I have are measuring .520. I slugged the bore on my Smith Carbine and want to buy a sizing die. I am coming up with .5185. Does this sound right? What size die should I buy? .519? I do not know if a .5195 can be made. .520? As always, thanks in advance for the help.

You don?t need a sizing die. .520 is perfect for your bore especially with the raised rings. You usually want .001-.002? oversized in a carbine.

I'm shooting the Eras Gone Smith sized to .515 using the hard black tubes. 33 grains 3F Goex seems to do well.

Have you tried shooting them as cast?

An original Smith bullet measures .5255". I shoot a .520" bullet sized to .518" in my original Smith with 28 grains of 3F and it is very accurate.

Yes, I have shot them as cast. I have to experiment with different charges too.
