The nipple on my Pedersoli Lorenz is a bear to remove after a shooting session. I goes in OK, but stiff, when it is clean, but I have to soak it in ballistrol and then use a hammer on the nipple wrench to tap it out if it has been fired. I've never had any gun with this problem before.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm considering sending the barrel to a gun smith and have it retapped to take a standard US musket nipple.

Hey Mark, are you putting any anti-seize on the threads before installing?

I do this on all my nipples and it makes removal much easier.

Steve,

Not anti-sieze but I do use heavy grease. This goes beyond, however. I think gas may be depositing fouling around the nipple thread. I've never had any issues like this with any other musket in 40+ years. Had to soak it and heat the bolster to get it out this AM.
