An 1854 Lorenz Jaegerstutzen Rifle. You'll need a sword bayonet fot that, and it'll display nicely.

It is NOT a Muster 1854 Jagerstutzen.

You have a Muster (model) 1849 Imperial-Royal Austrian Army Kammerbuchse [chamber rifle]. It was transformed from System Augustin tubelock to caplock, probably in Liege, Belgium, using a transformation technique developed by the Piedmontese Army in the early 1850s. It appears to be complete except for the ramrod, which is incorrect. About 50,000 of them were imported for the Federal Army, and they were widely used in the west early in the war. As best as I can tell from the photos it looks like its in better shape than most out there. Don't apply any heat to the nipple seat, it is just brazed onto the barrel.
