What is a good book to have on the Pattern 1853 and associated Enfield rifle-muskets? If I had to have just one....

The British Soldier's Firearms, 1850 to 1865, by Dr. C. H. Roads

This is a brand new book out concerning the evolution of ammunition for the Enfield. It is a must have:

https://smile.amazon.com/English-Cartridge-Pattern-Rifle-Musket-Ammunition/dp/B088N5ZKYT

This is another book by the same author that describes the evolution of the Enfield itself. Likewise a very good book:

https://smile.amazon.com/Destroying-Angel-Rifle-Musket-Modern-Infantry/dp/171985727X

Both are very inexpensive.
