A .562 round ball will seat in a brass Burnside case without shaving off lead? I ask because people talked about using .562 round balls in their Burnside. TIA.

They will not fit down inside my cases. They will however fit well enough to wedge in and not fall out under normal handling.

Nothing wrong with trying round balls. I used them with success in a converted 44-40 Wesson. Although it could shoot well out to 100 yds. Except on a windy day. 50 yds was always good. And yes the wedge method is what works.

No lead shaving when you wedge?

No, it did not "Shave" any lead when seating the .562 round ball. No doubt it leaves a groove where the case rim contacts the ball, but no material is removed. I seated them using only thumb pressure.
