My 14 year old son just got a Navy Arms Zouave that looks like it has never been fired. He wants to shoot it with some guys in the N-SSA (Lancaster Fencibles)
. He would like to know when his gun was built ser # 231-- if anyone can help it would make him very happy. Thanks from his Dad

There is a two letter alpha code near the breech. That is year of manufacture

They are on the bottom of the barrel. If you post them on the form someone can tell you when it was made.

Jerry,

See this link:
http://www.shotguns.se/html/italy.html

From 1945 to 1974 they used Roman numerals. From 1975 to now they use two alpha characters. They should appear somewhere on the left side of the breech, mixed in with the proof marks.

Good to know. I hope your son enjoys it. You'll have to get one now so you can shoot together. Maybe even join the Fencibles. That's how my father and I got into the NSSA in 1970. Good times.
