This might sound crazy, but all this time home has given me the opportunity to putz around with some of the odd-ball items i have in my collection. One of those things is a Pin Fire revolver. Interesting to say the least! Anyway, I took a modern cartridge and cut the primer pocket off so that the base is smooth and fits in the revolver cylinder. I then drilled a hole for the pin, and tested that with a cap. Much to my surprise, it fired on the first attempt! The primer hole is still open when i tested the cap. I figured not much point in doing a lot of work if i couldn't get the cap to fire.

Now, I would like to test it with a powder charge in the case. At this point, I need to seal up the primer hole to avoid the blow-back and for safety reasons. My question is...what do you folks think is the best was to seal up this primer hole? Someone suggested JB Weld, and another suggested plumbers solder. Before I did anything i thought i would tap the collective wisdom of the membership on what would be the best solution.

Its crazy, and has been some work. It has also been very interesting trying to solve this problem.

Any suggestions on how I should seam off the primer hole would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
