I won 3 gold medals with my Henry before I went Smoothbore crazy. Team events are shot on the same day in VA so I had to pick one, swapped the Henry.

With that said,

Lyman 427098, 205 gr semi wad cutter, cast from wheelweights.
Sized to .430
Lubed with my lube, known as N Lube or Bob-o-lene.
R-P brass, full length resized. (Not necessary in Individual matches but necessary in Team events where reliability is a must.)
Any regular primer. Magnums not required. I use Winchester mostly.
30 grs GOEX 3f
Card or poly wad. Poly shoots better and they are not abrasive to the bore, but they are not biodegradable. I cut card wads from cereal boxes. Punch them out with a belt punch.
Seat to just at the driving band and lightly crimp.

You can use Lyman 421429, the Keith style semi wad cutter, but it is heavier, 240 hrs, and longer, so you don't get as many in the magazine for the team events. Also, cartridge overall length is important in the Henry feed mechanism. With that said, if your gun likes it, it will drive tacks.

Good luck. Henry is the coolest gun I've used in skirmish style shooting.

Anyone have issues with case ejection?

Only if you short stroke it or go really slow.
Got to work the action.

I have both the Moose Mould and the RCBs 204. Both shoot great. But I prefer the Moose mould. The RCBs I had Moose remove the gas check. It would once in awhile catch a case lip and either crush the case or peel lead. I use 27Gr. 3ffg OE.

Lots of shooters I know get good results wit 22-23 grains of Goex 3f and a 240 grain bullet. Uberti guns have had different rifling over the years and your mileage may vary. I size my bullets to .429" but the bore needs to be slugged to find out what diameter is needed. Nominal bore for 44/40 is .427". I have never had great results with bullets in the 200 to 220 grain range. Could be my rifling. I use enough COW to seat the bullet firmly against the filler.

My gun is brand new and using clippers the bore measure .430 form grove to grove. Moose molds is .431 I hope that will work out. I will see when it gets here

I looked up the Fiocchi ammo. They use a 210 grain bullet. Probably a better pistol round than a rifle round..

Ok I shot the Henry today with 28gr 3f Goex Dutchman bullet sized to .429 in a lubber sizer with MCM lube and shoot pretty good at 50 yard bench rest but it seems to start fouling the barrel after about 6 or 8 rounds and started throwing rounds Any idea is it the lube. What lube does most of everyone use that can make it though a match?
Here?s my best groups 9879

I think you're right on the money Mr. Epps. I think you're now dealing with the notorious black powder fouling issue. I spent some years wrestling with this with my reconditioned Spencer and finally cured it with one of those Lee molds throwing bullets with a whole bunch of deep grooves on the side totally filled with Lens Lube. Can shoot fifteen shots with the fifteenth still on the money. Can't use in repeater mode though.
As an aside dealt with the smoothbore the same way. School solution lube wise is Alox. However after about five or six shots into a match still had to beat the rounds down with a purple passion. Went to simply applying a glob of Lens Lube to the top of the ball. Great loading, no noticeable change in accuracy.
I've always been in awe watching the Henry folks break targets -- like raining chards. I've decided they break them so fast fouling doesn't become an issue.

Recipe for N Lube, aka Bob-o-lene, copied from a post of mine from 4 years ago.

Mix 8 ounces each of pure Neatsfoot oil and and beeswax with one bar of Neutrogena soap in a melting pot. When combined, scrape some flakes from a bar of Ivory soap. (That last was given to me care of a chemist who said the soap makes the ingredients stay blended while cooling. Otherwise they will try to separate as they cool.)
Anyways, I made some stick moulds out of pvc pipe and arrow shafts for the core pins. This lets me make lube sticks for my Lubrisizer. I get about 12 sticks out of a double batch, plus I pour the leftover into baby food tubs to use as top cylinder lube for my revolver.

Making your own lube is not for everyone, but this recipe is superior to SPG and anything else I've seen.

This in no way denigrates Bob's lube, but Mr. Epps do you really need lube for the next twenty-five years as this formula will provide? Unless you shoot hundreds of rounds like Bob you may have way more than you need. Another possible solution is right there in your cupboard. Have you noticed that every few months that tub of Crisco you never use up has to be thrown out? Well that Crisco, rancid or not, is great bullet lube. You just have to use it right away or it will harden up.

I made some of the lube and the Ivory soap flakes did not melt with the mix I had the temperature right at or above boiling. The flakes just floated around on top so I scraped them off and when it cooled it seemed to separate the wax from the soap. See pictures 9882

I melt the neutrogena and ivory soap first. It has a high melting point.
Wonder if a microwave would help. Hmmmmm.

Mav Dutchman. Sized 430 w/spg. 24 gns. 3F Swiss. Many yrs ago I found the bullet on eBay. Bought 100 and tried them out. On the bench can hold x ring on our N-SSA 50 yd target with 10 rounds. For yrs I continued buying them since I didn?t shoot team event and didnt need that many of them. A couple of yrs ago found myself shooting a little local cowboy. Decided I would need more so I bought the mold from Dick Dastardly biglube. Molded up a bunch in pure lead. Out to the range to try them out. Not good. Group now was 4? on the bench. Back home called big lube. Asked what brinnel hardness were his bullets. He stated 9-10 brinnel. With a lead hardness tester got to 9-10 brinnel and made a batch. Back to the range. 10 res back in the x ring.

Ok I shot it today with 30 gr 3f Swiss, MCM lube and the Moose bullet and it did great Shot 10 rounds and no crusty crap in the barrel then I shot 15 shots with out cleaning and still shooting good. Shot the MAV Duchman 210gr and the Moose bullet 240 gr. I think I will stick with the Moose bullet 9938
