Hello everyone,
I'm new to blackpowder shooting. I've done a little but certainly not a lot. I'm about to acquire a Pedersoli Lorenz. It's .54. I would like to do some shooting with it but for safety reasons as I am a Civil War reenactor I would like to shoot round ball only. Quick question. What size ball does everyone recommend? Do I have to patch it? if so what should I use? It's got a pretty slow twist, 1/78 I believe. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

If you want to hit what you?re aiming at you will have to experiment with patching a correct size RB. Thickness and material patching will help with accuracy along with lube. Or experiment with other .54 cal. bullets. If you just want to throw lead get a RB that?s about .001 - .002 under bore size so as it won?t give you too much problem reloading if you have a quality lube. Now if your interest progresses to competition in N-SSA that?s a whole other ballgame.
