How do you get dependable results bench shooting a muzzle loader? :? :?

When attempting to develop the best load for my new Mississippi I am having problems determining the best grouping when making small changes in my loads. How do you insure the point of aim is the same every time when you have to remove the gun from the stand to reload?

Get a laser sight, mount it to a hose clamp, clamp on to muzzle. Place a stick-on orange dot on target, aim for the dot.

Another method that takes a little more work. Credit for this one goes to my buddy Jake.

If your laser sight has a dovetail, you can get a slip on front sight base with a ramp cut for a standard 3/8 in dovetail and an inside diameter of 0.70 in. Only $3.50 from Numrich (PN 542000).

Use a Dremel tool to split the base lengthwise and drive it over at 3/4" mandrel to open it up. Cut a channel to lock it onto the existing front sight like a bayonet and install a ring or pin to lock it in place.
