Took my daughter to the range today to try out some guns. We shot a Pietta 1851 Navy, my Richmond carbine, and a Smith carbine. She prefers the Smith.

Her hands are small, so she has difficulty cocking the revolver one-handed. I see from the rules that of course you have to shoot 1-handed, but I see nothing that requires 1-handed cocking. Are shooters permitted to cock the revolver using 2 hands and then shoot single-handed?

Yes. Just be sure the off-hand used for cocking is well clear when aiming and firing to prevent any misperception that it is helping to support the gun.

Steve,
I do believe you can do it. I have and was never called and seen several people shooting paper up there that do it.
Infact when I started shooting revolvers at Capron some of the "coaches" said don't break your grip and cock with other hand. That said it could be I and others were never called. I will say it has been several years sense I shot them. I was just never that good with them and did not have the time to put into it. Funny with modern guns I can hit any targets, have even shot 22 cal wheel guns at 100 yards off hand and hit 8" steel plates.

Glad to see you get young ones shooting them.

I'm sure someone will come along soon and quote the rule, I do not have mine in front of me.
