I have a Lyman 533476 and wanted to see if anyone used this mold in a Shiloh 1863 54 cal.

Thanks,
Mark

I have had customers who have tried this. The cast size is about .534. Your bore should be close to .523, and the groove is .542. The forcing cone is not really compatible with aligning the projectile straight and the chamber pressure would be equal around the bullet that would not guarantee expansion of the skirt to seal. This would have cause leading in short order and inconsistent pressures. The down range results would not be what you are looking for. This is consistent with limited testing I did when I was trying to duplicate reported results from old stories I was told. I believe you would be better off with a solid tapered bullet unless you wanted to do chamber modifications and swage the bullet base to get a consistent seal. Even with these modifications I think the down range results would not be good.
