I would have some doubt about the authenticity of the whole thing.

The cannon is sitting on someone?s front lawn in Monroe NJ and has to be gotten rid of by siblings whose parents owned the house have passed. Be a shame to wind up in a scrap yard. If it?s civil war I would think there would be some interest here.

It does need some work but it would be a tragedy if it wound up in the junk yard even though it might not be correct. Still a very interesting conversation piece and should be rescued from sitting in the weather.

So, for us artillery challenged types, what is this or is it supposed to represent?

I'd really like to know the back story that led this to sit in someone's front yard. Did he fire it on special occasions?

Looks like it is supposed to represent a 12lb Napoleon, but the muzzle diameter looks like a 6lb or smaller.

Here is a correct 12 pound Napoleon and a Model 1841 6 pounder.

Are there any markings on the Trunnions of the gun?
