Maynard Carbine modification

I have a second pattern Maynard that would make a great shooter (beautiful bore and lock up) but there is significant corrosion under the nipple and a blockage that I can't overcome. The Nipple tightens up but there is damage to the female threads from corrosion and over time this will likely be a weakness. Does anyone out there work on these that can help put this lady back in shooting shape??
