New to Civil War arms and accouterments and ordered what was advertised as a Civil War Springfield sling. What I got was well made but way too long (70")for my 1861 musket. Of course after installing it and pushing the hook through the holes it could not be returned. My issue is with World War Supply in that they steadfastly refuse to accept that the sling they are selling is not for the Civil War Springfield. I found it's actually for the 1873 model. Not an expensive lesson but you'd think they would say oops, sorry about our mistake.

I bet it was made with a reproduction Enfield in mind instead of a Springfield.

I've found it's a proper sling for the 1873 TRAPDOOR Springfield, not the Civil War era guns. This is what it looks like properly installed and adjusted to its shortest length. It's a nice sling but obviously too long.
