I just purchased a used 1858 Remington Tri-L .44 caliber c&b revolver. I need a high quality, hardened nipple wrench. I only have musket wrenches now. Can anyone let me know who makes a high quality wrench. I know there is a lot of low quality wrenches out there, but I want to buy a quality wrench. I am soaking the cylinder in Kroil and will use anti seize on the threads. I'm unable to make a wrench. Thanks

Bob,
Look at badmanbullets.com. He has a hardened and heat treated nipple wrench for sale, among other items.

I ordered several nipple wrenches for my 1858 Remington. After soaking for 4 days in a small can of Kroil, they came out. The nipples seemed to be only snug in the cylinder however there was black residue. I used a wrench from TOTW-#NW-130. I will re-install the nipples with anti-seize and only just snug.

This is why removing the nipples should be part of the normal cleaning regime. Some people slack off on it.

Better them than me. I clean and re-coat nipples with anti seize every time I use the gun
